Credentials and Professional Experience:

Alexandra Rooks Hughes is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC and a Masters of Arts degree in Psychology (Counseling Specialty) from Argosy University in Atlanta, GA.  Alexandra is also a Nationally Certified Counselor and a member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia.

Alexandra has extensive experience working with adults and teenagers in both individual and group therapy.  She is knowledgeable in facilitating reconnections with family members/other relationships and developing treatment goals for a range of mental health concerns including Depression, Anxiety, sexual abuse/trauma, stress management and relationship issues. Her work experience includes initiating treatment within both in-patient and out-patient settings and addressing dual-diagnosis issues. 

Approach: 

Alexandra believes in empowering her clients and encouraging the development of self-awareness and self-worth.  She utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques and approaches (including Dialectic Behavioral Therapy/DBT and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/CBT) in order to individualize her treatment.  Alexandra believes that a strong and supportive relationship between therapist and client is essential in order for change or healing to take place.  When a client is able to make changes generated from a shift in their core being, she feels that true healing and growth can take place.
