Credentials and Professional Experience

Kathleen Rasmussen is a Counselor and Psychotherapist with a Masters of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Wisconsin and Georgia. She is a National Certified Counselor and a Board Certified – TeleMental Health Provider providing online counseling services.

Rasmussen has 18 plus years of experience providing mental health services to a wide range of ages going through various stages of life. She completed her Master’s Internship at Winnebago County Human Services. She has worked as a Clinical Therapist and Crisis Worker at Green Lake and Winnebago County Human Services. She provided consultation services for the Green Lake County Head Start Program. She has also provided counseling services to family members at Theda Clark Trauma Center and mediation services at Winnebago Conflict Resolution Center and the Oshkosh Area School District.

Kathleen has supervisory experience gained in the corporate world in addition to being a supervisor of the Comprehensive Community Support (CCS) and Community Support Program (CSP) at Winnebago County Human Services where she supervised staff and programing that served the chronic and severely mental ill.

Most recently she has worked in a medically integrated setting at Ascension Health in Wisconsin. She has provided more specialized care within the Women’s Health, Neurology and Family and Internal Medicine practices.

Approach

Kathleen is an Integrative Psychotherapist who utilizes a wide variety of approaches and interventions providing services to adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families. She uses techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (CMBCT), Motivational Interviewing and Play Therapy with children. Having worked in various medical settings she has a developed a Holistic approach respecting and working with the symbiotic relationship between the Mind – Body – Spirit.

Her approach is one of compassion and respect for the power of the human spirit, individual differences, utilizing a client’s, couple’s and/or family’s strengths while being trauma informed.
