Credentials and Professional Experience
Tripp is currently in training to become a Certified Therapy Dog (expected completion Winter 2019). He has earned his CGC certification through the American Kennel Club. He works under the supervision of Kristin Coggin, LPC, RPT in the Alpharetta office. Tripp works diligently to be an asset to the counseling process, whether that be a soothing presence, a soft cuddle partner or a fun playmate Tripp is ready to help!
Through the use of Animal Assisted Play Therapy techniques Tripp helps teach children social skills, appropriate empathetic responses, responsibility for self and stress reduction skills. The unconditional love and acceptance Tripp brings to the play room improves the therapeutic relationship and assists in fostering desired changes.
Therapy dogs have been found to lower cortisol levels (the stress hormone), decrease blood pressure, as well as decrease aggression and anger. Clients often find his presence to increase feelings of comfort, acceptance and relaxation.
